Leaving Certificate

Leaving Certificate is a very popular course on the VTOS programme.  Students have the choice of sitting for the Leaving Certificate examination after one or two years of study. We have an experienced and supportive teaching staff who help to ensure that students are well prepared for the June examinations. We are proud of the fact that VTOS students consistently achieve excellent grades and progress afterwards to further their education at PLC and third level.

Course Content:
Choose a minimum of 3 subjects from the following:
  • English
  • Business
  • Economics
  • Maths
  • Geography
  • Biology
  • Accounting
  • Irish
  • History

Leaving Certificate students also have the opportunity to gain FETAC and other qualifications in:

  • Computing
  • Bookkeeping (FETAC Level 5)
  • Payroll (FETAC Level 5)

Duration of Course
1-2 Years.


Entry Requirements
The Junior Certificate is not necessary, but a reasonable level of literacy is required.
