Launch of ‘Literary Leanings’ in Queen of Peace
28/05/2010 00:00:00

Queen of Peace Creative Writers launched their first ever anthology ‘Literary Leanings’ in the Spotted Dog Lounge in Janesboro recently. ‘Literary Leanings’ is the collective work of a group of Community Education learners who have been together about 18 months and are supported by Limerick City AES through the tuition of Sheila Quealey.

Dominic Taylor of the Limerick Writers Centre was present on the night to officially launch this new and exciting work. Dominic complimented all contributors on their talent and most importantly their courage in presenting their work on the night in front of their peers and the community. He noted that ‘growing up, creativity was for other people’, however this book with its eclectic mix of writings reflects the diversity of experience of the group participants and a vibrant community. We heard hilarious stories of childhood drama, poetry inspired by Munster Rugby and the experience of living with a disability in Limerick today.

The book is currently on sale from any group member or the Queen of Peace Community Resource Centre and all proceeds will go to the Limerick Branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Pat O’Dwyer of MS Limerick was present on the night to thank the group for their hard work on behalf of the branch.

Pictured at the Launch were Creative Writing Group members: Ann O’Sullivan, Monica McNamara and Dennis Ryan.
