Youthreach Healthy Heart Week
25/10/2012 00:00:00

As part of Youthreach O’Connell Avenue Limerick’s Health and Fitness Drive, a fun-filled week took place on September 24th to 28th to increase awareness of the importance of health and fitness in our lives.

The initiative began with a visit from a representative from Bord Bia who demonstrated lots of healthy eating options to our students.  The Home Economics room was a hive of activity all week with students preparing many new healthy and tasty dishes for the centre’s “Healthy Afternoon Tea.”

The week was organised by SPHE Co-ordinator Margaret Walsh, and other initiatives included smoking cessation sessions with lollipops and lots of encouragement given to all participants. The week culminated in the whole centre heading up to Cratloe Woods in Co. Clare for a 6km walk through the forest.
