LCAES Youthreach, O’Connell Avenue celebrates its first LCA graduation
11/10/2012 00:00:00

LCAES Youthreach, O’Connell Avenue, Limerick saw its first Leaving Cert Applied learners graduate this year.

The two year course was varied and enjoyable; it included six weeks of work experience, key assignments, tasks and final exams.  Lots of visitors came to talk on various topics such as drug and alcohol awareness, FÁS and Limerick Enterprise Board, to name but a few.  Throughout the time, learners were encouraged to visit places of interest within their community, such as King John’s Castle, Thomond Park and Limerick FM.

The LCA has proven to be a very popular alternative to the mainstream Leaving Certificate which is also being offered at the centre, with numbers applying for the course exceeding availability.  Most of the first intake have progressed to either further education or employment and we wish them every success in their future pursuits.
