LCAES Learners Cliff-hanger in Clare
15/06/2010 00:00:00

Over 80 students and staff members from Basic Education Solutions, a Limerick City Adult Education Service programme, recently went on their annual trip to West Clare.

Lady Luck was with the group on the day as the sun shone brightly from start to finish. First stop was Lahinch, where there was time to walk the beach and/or do some shopping. The fact that electricity was out in the town didn’t dampen students’ spirits as they came back laden down with bags! After having lunch overlooking the bay, the bus headed to the Cliffs of Moher where the group strolled through the Exhibition Centre and learned about rock formation etc. Then there was time for a walk around the 214m high cliffs – which are Ireland’s nomination for the on-line competition to choose the 7 natural wonders of the world.

The group’s composition highlighted the diversity of the student cohort attending BES for courses, as locals and international students socialised together throughout the day. As classes take place in so many venues citywide, students do not get the chance to meet other groups, so the trip provided that opportunity to chat and share experiences. All expressed great satisfaction with the trip and were asking about the destination for next year!

Pictured on the way to Moher are just some of the over 80 learners and staff from Basic Education Solutions who visited the Cliffs of Moher and Lahinch on their annual trip.
