LCAES AEIGS – Providing Adult Education Information While You Shop
09/07/2012 00:00:00

October 2011 saw the Adult Education Information and Guidance Service (AEIGS) launch a new venture to target hard-to-reach potential adult learners – by setting up monthly Information Stands in four shopping centres across the city.

Lorraine, Emma and Catherine negotiated with centre managers to set up stands for half a day every month at Roxboro, Arthurs’ Quay, Eurospar Watchhouse Cross and Jetland shopping centres. A range of web-based and print information was available and the Guidance Counsellors were on hand to answer any questions.

From October to June, 195 adults of all ages received information on the range of adult education options and supports. It was a great success in fulfilling our aim of providing impartial and relevant information on education options to adults who we do not reach through our normal avenues. We will take a break for the Summer and hope to be back at our stands in the Autumn. If you see us out and about in centres, be sure to stop and say hello!
