15/10/2009 00:00:00

Limerick Community Education Network (LCEN) in partnership with the LCAES Community Education Programme and 'up and coming' documentary film maker Christina Gangos have secured funding for a new innovative community arts initiative.

Aine Lyne, AES Community Development Worker, and Christina are currently in the process of meeting & greeting seven different communities in Limericks Rapid Areas. They hope to identify groups of learners who will be trained on how to make a DVD/film documenting their experiences of adult learning. Groups will work with Christina to learn how to use a video camera, formulate ideas and tell their stories on camera.  Training for phase 1 will take place in November and depending on a successful outcome, phase 2 funding be applied for in early 2010.

Christina Gangos in an independent documentary filmmaker based in Limerick City.  In 2007/2008 she produced and filmed the observational documentary ‘Lettuce and Peppers’, integrating herself with group with special needs in Limerick City. She also is currently working on a documentary entitled Limerick Portrait. For more details on her work visit
