17/02/2010 00:00:00

City of Limerick VEC adult and further education staff were kept very busy at the recent EGF Information days held in the South Court Hotel,  on 11th and 12th February.

This event, which was organized for workers made redundant as a result of the closure of Dell’s production line in Limerick, offered information and guidance on the range of education, training and enterprise opportunities available under the European Globalisation Fund (EGF).

In total,  237 former employees of Dell, and its downstream companies, expressed interest in CLVEC adult and further education programmes.  Siobhan White, City of Limerick AES Information Officer, commented that ‘demand for Adult and Further Education courses was very high’.  In particular, there was great interest in a new AES course called ‘Link, Learning and Work’ which supports learners to make education, training and career learning choices which are suited to their own individual needs and abilities.  Pictured at the event are Mary Hamilton, Adult Education Officer and Siobhan White, Information Officer.
