VTOS students and teachers were delighted to receive a visit from renowned Slovenian poet, Istok Osojnik, as part of Cuisle International Poetry Festival which took place last week.
Istok talked to the group about his country, his formation as a poet and why he believes poetry is so important. When one student asked how he could become a poet himself, Istok said, “I suggest you get a pencil and start writing.” Students were surprised and touched by the poet's forthright views and Assistant Co-Ordinator, Margaret Heffernan thanked Mr. Osojnik for such a “positive experience”. The link with Cuisle began last year when a group of students attended a poetry reading given in Daghdha by visiting poets Veronika Dintinjana (Slovenia) and John Davies (UK).
