Ann and Elaine Represent LCAES at Áras an Uachtaráin
30/04/2010 00:00:00

Ann Morrissey, a learner, and Elaine Tucker, a volunteer tutor, from Basic Education Solutions represented Limerick City Adult Education Service at the recent National Adult Literacy Agency’s 30 Year Celebration Reception hosted by President Mary McAleese.

Over 150 guests attended the event, including students, tutors, volunteers from VECs around the country along with staff from NALA, to celebrate the agency’s work over the last 30 years.  NALA continues to work with adult literacy services to ensure that all adults with literacy and numeracy difficulties have access to high-quality learning provision.
At the reception, President McAleese acknowledged the commitment from learners, tutors and VEC staff over the last 30 years and recognised the courage and extraordinary character of all those who return to learning as adults, particularly those who return to improve their basic skills.
Ann and Elaine had an opportunity to mix with learners and staff, both past and present, at the event and also had the chance to explore the Aras and view its many breathtaking rooms. All in all the day proved to be wonderful recognition for the exceptional work of both learners and tutors involved in basic education provision and in particular for Ann and Elaine and everyone involved with Basic Education Solutions.
